The course consists of 30 meetings, with each session focused on improving essential reading skills needed for academic and professional contexts. Students will be introduced to various types of academic texts, including articles, essays, reports, and research-based materials.
Throughout the course, students will practice key reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, identifying main ideas, understanding supporting details, recognizing text organization, interpreting vocabulary in context, making inferences, and summarizing information. The activities in each meeting are designed to help students become more active, critical, and independent readers.
In addition, the course encourages students to develop academic reading habits, expand their academic vocabulary, and improve their ability to evaluate information from written sources. By the end of the course, students are expected to read academic texts more confidently, comprehend written information more accurately, and apply appropriate reading strategies according to their specific academic needs.
